Great weekend

Yesterday morning was the Christmas parade.  Larry & Samuel were in the first group to come down the road.  Larry is a den leader for Samuel's Cub Scouts group.  They both walked behind the float, tossing out candy.  This is the picture I took:

But they came by so quickly that it's the ONLY picture I got.  Larry's in all khaki at the back of the trailer.  Samuel is behind him---you can see his little feet sticking out under the trailer.  But............. this morning, our local newspaper had more pictures!  They have reporters come out & take tons of pictures of all sorts of things and the ones they don't use in the paper go on the website.  Lookie what I found when I looked through the pictures!

There's my sweet baby Cub Scout.  He was worn out by the end of the parade.  They walked the whole thing & I believe it amounts to about 2 miles.  His tiny little legs & feet aren't used to going that far in one stretch.

THEN........this morning was an even BIGGER day.  Samuel was baptised this morning.  A friend took more pictures from up in the baptistry, and as soon as I get those, I'll share.  But for now, this is the only picture I have.  I took it from wayyyyyy back in the sanctuary & it was dimly lit, so you have to really look to tell what you're looking at.  Larry & Samuel are in the white robes up at the top, above the white screen.  See them?  They were standing in the baptistry.  This was just before the baptism.  Larry is holding Samuel in this pic so everyone could see him.

Just prior to the service, Larry & I spent an hour in a Sunday School classroom just hanging out & getting to talk.  It was almost like a date!  See, he's teaching a SS class for new believers/new converts.  It's a class for very basic doctrine & only lasts 9 weeks.  At the end of that 9 weeks, the classmembers are free to join a regular SS class.  (Note:  This class is not required for new believers, but it's just an option they can choose from in choosing a class to attend.)  Anyway, the first 9 week session ended mid-November and due to our being on vacation & then a week where there was an emergency that Larry had to leave to attend to, we're only 2 weeks into the 9 weeks session now.  Last Sunday, Larry did it alone because I worked in the nursery.  There was only 1 person in the class.  Class size is really not a big deal, but having no one attend just means we have an hour to kill.  Anyway, all that said...we sat & talked about the book he's been reading, about our kids, about Samuel's baptism, and just whatever came to mind.  While we were sitting there we decided to take a couple pics.  Although Larry's doing a pretty wide cheesy grin here, I really do like this pic.

After this one, he said that since we were in a SS classroom, maybe he should look more "holy" in the next picture, so this was the result.

I told him it looked more like he was thanking the Lord for a wonderful wife.  :)  What do you think?

Looks like he has tears in his eyes.  You could interpret that look many ways.
The baptism was a very moving, special time for us.  I was so thankful we both got to come.   When your son-in-law baptizes your grandson, that is precious.
                                        Love all of you!  Mom
