Want to Know Wednesday (on Thursday!)

{1} When was the last time you lost your temper?
To some degree, probably every day. Usually with one of the kids when they are disobeying. But I don't lose my temper in a yelling & screaming sort of way.

{2} What 3 words best describe you?
Hmmm.....you tell me!

{3} What movie could you watch over and over again and never get tired of?
Grease

{4} If you could do something dangerous, just once, with no risk, what would you do?
Skydive

{5} Which is more important intelligence or common sense?
A balance of the two is preferable, but I guess if I must choose, I'll go with common sense.

Want to Know Wednesday (on Thursday!)

{1} What is your feel better remedy when you are sick?
It depends on what kind of sickness I'm suffering from.

{2} When illness strikes, what is your policy on staying home from work, school or church with yourself and the family?
We try to stick to the 24 hour rule. If one of the kids has fever, diarrhea or vomitting, they have to wait 24 hours after the last episode before going out & being around people again. If they don't have those sort of symptoms, we go on a case by case basis.

{3} What do you think is worse? Flu or cold?
They can both be yucky for different reasons. The flu lasts longer & usually carries worse symptoms. A little cold can be medicated & dealt with at work/school/home.

{4} Flu shots? Do you get them? Have you yet?
I don't really want to open that GIGANTIC can of worms here, but no....I don't get a flu shot. Actually, the only one in our house who does is Sarah and that's only because she's young & has asthma and the flu can make her really, really sick so we try to prevent her from getting it.

{5} When are are feeling down, what is your usual, go-to therapy? (retail therapy, exercise, comfort food, etc).
Sleep, laying around, reading, writing.

Want to Know Wednesday

{1} If you had an extra hour to do ANYTHING for yourself each day what would you do?
And I assume this extra hour also includes money....because if we're adding an imaginary hour to the day, we might as well throw in imaginary money, right?

If so, I'd have a massage. Or take a nap. Or read. Or (grin) blog.

{2} Are you a morning person or a night owl?
I have to sort of be both.
I am a night owl by nature. I love that quiet, peaceful, sleepy time when everyone in the house is in bed, already asleep. It's like my little piece of serenity. I may be yawning, but it's my favorite time of the day to write, take a bubble bath, read a book, whatever....

But I am also the alarm setter, the wake up the children & cook everyone breakfast-er, the drag my husband out of bed & push him toward the shower-er, so I don't get the privilege of being one or the other. I am both the night owl & the morning person.

{3} How much sleep do you get on an average night?
Ha ha! Did you read my answer to question 2?
Seriously, during the week, I am usually in the bed, turning off my lamp by 11:30. (umm...it's 11:20 right now....might not make it tonight) And I get up at 6:05-6:10. But on the weekend, I almost always go to bed later and I always sleep later!

So I guess during the week it's about 6 1/2-7 hours on average. And on the weekend it's more like 8-9.

{4} When do you find the time to blog/surf the ol' interweb?
Scroll up to #2.

{5} What is the ONE thing you're never too busy for?

Going potty. :)
I think we're all 'too busy' for just about anything in our lives from time to time. Obviously if I'm too busy to spend time with my kids, I see that & make adjustments the next day. If I find that I'm too busy for some quiet time with my husband, I fix that. But there's always SOMETHING that has to be pushed aside every day and you adjust & fix that the next day.
But pottying? Yeah....I always make time for that. :)

Want to Know Wednesday

{1} What is one thing (food or drink) that you MUST have everyday?
Water. I know, it sounds like a pretty basic answer, but I really do like to drink water, so it's a daily thing!

{2} What is your "go to" food when you don't feel well/need comfort?
Gatorade is my sickness thing. Gotta have bottles & bottles of it when I'm sick. Sometimes that's ALL I eat/drink when I'm sick.
But my favorite comfort food is Stouffer's frozen entree Mac & Cheese. Oh my heavens. Bliss.

{3} Is there a dish that you make that people request when they visit your home/a family favorite?
I THINK that I'm a pretty good cook, so most things are pretty yummy. I try to keep the family guessing, though....so they never know what I'm gonna serve them from week to week (unless they read the menu on my fridge door of course!). I can't think of a specific thing they request over & over, though.

{4} What are 3 foods you have TRIED, do not like and will NEVER eat again?
Squid. Blech.

{5} What's one thing that you love to eat that most people would think is weird and/or gross??
I love yogurt. I literally eat it EVERY day. That's mostly to help w/ my tummy issues, but I also just really like it. And it's good for you! BUT I know lots of people who think it's gross.

Want to Know Wednesday

{1} What are 3 must haves for a long road trip?
I always make each of my family members a gallon sized ziploc bag of snacks of various kinds. Fruit, grains, salty, sweet... And we must have things to keep the kids busy! Books, CDs to listen to, etc.

{2} What was the destination of your most recent road trip?
Larry & I made a quick road trip a couple weekends ago. But we were there & back in one day, so does that really count as a road trip?

{3} What do you miss most about home when on a trip?
My bed

{4} What is the furthest you have traveled on a road trip?
When I was a kid, we always drove everywhere we went -- no flying unless you had to cross an ocean & had no choice! I know we went to Orlando, FL and to Washington DC....but I'm not positive which one of those is further mileage-wise. And in '07, we drove home from Los Angeles. That one might've been further than either of the other two trips. It took us 3 solid days of driving 10-12 hours/day to get home from CA.

{5} Will you "stop for the largest ball of twine, etc" or are you a "hurry and get there" road tripper?
I love to stop on the way TO our destination. But on the way home, we all get antsy for HOME & just want to drive on through until we see Texas soil!

Want to Know Wednesday

{1}Do you prefer to text or call?
Text

{2}What is the last text message in your phone and who is it from?
It was from my buddy Tara tonight.

{3}What are your favorite phone apps?
I don't have a smart phone, so no apps for me.

{4}At what age do you think kids are ready for a cell phone?
We did not buy a phone for our kids to use until last year. And we only did it then because our oldest would be travelling to out of town football games with the band & might occasionally need to contact us during those trips. She was in 9th grade last year. HOWEVER, the phone is not hers. The phone stays in our kitchen silverware drawer 98% of the time. When one of the kids goes somewhere that they need to take the phone, we pull it out & send it with them.

{5}Share a current pic or video taken with your phone.
Nope...not tonight. You can see those on Friday's Phone Dump post. :)

Want to Know Wednesday

1. What is the best advice someone has ever given you?
Like most moms will tell you, it boils down to 2 things. (1) Trust your instincts. and (2) Sleep when your baby sleeps. It may have taken me 3 kids to finally follow that advice, but when it finally sunk in, I was a better mom/wife/person for it!

2. What is your greatest accomplishment?
At this moment in my life, I would have to say raising 3 kids.

3. Who do you admire?
So many people....mostly Godly women who are transparent & honest about their lives. No facades, no hiding behind a veil of superiority or perfectionism. Women who fully rely on God & are REAL.

4. If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?
Ok, the most obvious answer from the chubby girl is "I'd weigh less." But what I've learned so many times in life is that reaching that next goal (whatever it is) will not change you are. And I like who I am. So if I reach my goals in life (like having more money, losing weight, having a home with a big dining room so my family can always eat together at mealtime....) that's great, but those are just things to aim for. They won't necessarily make me a better person.

5. How do you want to be remembered?
As a person who lived life well, who saw the good in people, who lived my faith & trusted God, even in tough times.

Want to Know Wednesday

{1} If you could be on any game show what would it be?
The Price is Right or Wheel of Fortune seem like such fun! But the new reality/game show called Take the Money & Run looks AWESOME! I'd love to do that one because the prize is $100,000!! That's more than twice what we make per year!

{2} If you could choose to stay any certain age forever, what age would it be?
I don't know. I keep thinking "this is the best age ever!" but then I discover that a few years later I am thinking the same thing. It seems like every age has its pros & cons.

{3} What were you doing 30 minutes ago?
taking a shower

{4} What would I find in your fridge right now?
milk, sour cream, hummus, oranges & apples, bottled water, veggies, grilled chicken breasts, a pork chop from last night, minced garlic, salad dressings, peppers.....and more

{5} If you were a piece of furniture what would you be? Why?
a cozy bed...my favorite!

Want to Know Wednesday

{1} If you could spend a day with a blogger, who you haven't met in real life, who would you choose?
Wow. There are so many. Let me check my blogroll....

First, I'd go have a sleepover with Amber. We would laugh & cry & talk til the wee hours of the morning.
Then I'd go to see Angie. I'm sure we'd laugh a lot, but I would mostly just sit & listen to her talk. Wisdom, girl!
I'd love to go see April, but I think I'll wait a couple months so that I can meet her 2 newest babies!!
Darcy & I would hang out for some girltalk.
Emily would make me smile & would inspire me.
I'd go see Kelle just to live in her world for a while. The one that refreshes my soul every time I read her blog.
I'd love to go meet Holly to hug her & talk about life.
Missy & I would giggle and share mom stories.
I would love to lay hands on Joanne & pray for her in person, and get to know her better.
The same goes for Kate's family. Maybe she'd introduce me to her sweet dog or maybe we could watch Spongebob together!
I would love to meet JMom and her family. They make me giggle and I love her parenting style!
After years of reading Marlo's blog, I would adore getting a chance to hug her & just hang out.
I would also love to meet Noah's mom and spend some quiet time praying for her and their family.
And Courtney. Oh how I'd have fun with Courtney. Even if it just meant sitting around, sharing war stories. Awesome lady!
Susie & I could probably get into a lot of trouble together. I suspect we'd do a lot of laughing.
The Meanest Mom & I would just sit & talk. She'd tell all her stories & I'd wipe tears from laughing so hard.
I'd love to meet Elayne and Mark. Such precious people!
I want to meet Vanessa after Baby A comes home. Hope it's soon, friend!!!

Wow....looks like the overwhelming theme there is talking, laughing & meeting the families of these folks. I guess you can tell what my top love language is! (Quality time/quality conversation!)

{2} What website do you check first when you go online?
AOL for email, then Facebook, the bank website, 1 message board I'm a part of and this blog. That's about the length of my online life.

{3} What is something you are saving money for right now?
Nothing in particular....just trying to save money where I can!

{4} What is your go to silly face when a silly face is needed?
Hmm....I have a few silly face pictures on my computer. You pick which one you like. ha ha!

{5} How do you relieve stress?
Cry, talk, pray, sleep, eat. (and the hope is that I can destress w/ the first 4 & never reach the last one!)

We Want to Know Wednesday

1} Which activities make you lose track of time?
watching TV or computer time --- either one can be a huge time sucker

{2} Is there such a thing as perfect?
Does this answer your question?

{3} When do you feel most like yourself?
When I'm writing. Don't you feel special? (grin) I can totally be myself here. :::burps & scratches butt:::

{4} Describe your life in a 6 word sentence.
I am so so so blessed.

{5} Share one of your most beloved childhood memories.
I have pretty vivid memories of my oldest sister (Cindy--she's 8 1/2 years older than me) coming in super early on Saturday mornings, carrying me to the living room ON A PILLOW to watch cartoons. And she would come wake me up on Christmas morning, about 4am, to go see what Santa brought, then take me back to bed & put me back to sleep before the rest of the family got up to open the rest of the presents.

We Want to Know Wednesday

{1}Name five of your favorite new blogs that you're reading.
That's way too hard. Do you see my blogroll on the right side of the screen? I literally scroll down that list & read *every* one that has a new post every single night. Or at least every other night. There's no way I could pick just five of them as my favorites!

{2} When you were a young child or teenager, did you have an idea of how many children you wanted and what their names would be? Did you follow through on your ideas?
I don't think I ever planned a number of children, but I always had a running list of baby names. The only one I can remember was Heather Rose. And well, that didn't happen.

{3} What is the silliest thing you fight with someone about? Could be your spouse, sibling, parents, co-worker etc.
I can't think of anything I really fight about with anyone! I'm just not a confrontational, fight it out sort of person I guess.

{4} What is your favorite scent that other's may not find very nice? ie: gasoline, sweat from your sweetie, etc.
gasoline

{5} Thoughts on Plastic Surgery? (had it? want it? regrets?)
I can't really say that I have negative feelings about it. I know too many people who've had plastic surgery after cancer or to correct a birth defect, etc. There is absolutely a useful side to plastic surgery! There are a few procedures that I'd LOVE to have if I had the money.

However.......there are definitely cases of "going overboard" all over Hollywood & around the world. So there is a limit to it!
