Field trip, anyone?

First, before you do anything else, I need to tell you something & I want you to take a quick field trip from here for just a minute. (But come back & check out the Friday Phone Dump afterward! I'm posting it in a second.)

If you've ever read Shaun Groves's (or is it Groves'?) blog and been inspired.... if you've never considered sponsoring a child through Compassion International, or if you have considered it but you're still thinking about it....read this blog post.

Maybe it's the PMS.
Maybe it's the mom in me.
Maybe it's just because I'm a girl.
Or maybe it's the Holy Spirit.

Whatever it is, I'm talking to Larry tomorrow about sponsoring a child. I can't do much, but maybe I can use part of our tithe each month to help a child. If you are able, I'd suggest you consider it too.

(And if you're not sure how to find Compassion, click the link at the bottom of this page. It's always been there, but maybe you didn't click it before. Today's the day.)

I have been involved with Compassion since middle school. Our youth group sponsored some kids back in the early 80's and I have sponsored my own since the early 90's. I would say, other than my church, it is the one organization that I have been consistent with my support-maybe even more so than my church. I have never had a concern about whether or not my money was being spent well. They are meeting the physical and spiritual needs of children and their families all over the world. I cannot recommend this organization enough. We currently have a boy in El Salvador and a young lady in Indonesia. One idea, if you are concerned about the cost is to make a monthly donation to the unsponsored children's fund. There is not a set amount and you can give what you can afford, but a child that does not have a sponsor yet still benefits. Needless to say, I LOVE Compassion!
